What is a Thin Film Composite Membrane?
Thin film composite membranes (TFC or TFM) are semipermeable membranes manufactured principally for use with water purification or water desalination systems. They also have use in chemical applications such as batteries and fuel cells.
Essentially, a TFC material is a molecular sieve constructed in the form of a film from two or more layered materials. Membranes used in reverse osmosis are typically made out of polyimide, chosen primarily for its permeability to water and relative impermeability to various dissolved impurities including salt ions and other small, unfilterable molecules
This Standard Size (RO) Membrane fits a standard membrane housing like the one's sold here.
The same standard membrane housing can accommodate RO membranes with capacities ranging between 18-100 gallons per day (GPD).
Element is interchangeable with GE Osmonics and CSM membranes and many others .
FILMTEC™ reverse osmosis membrane elements for home drinking water are the industry's most reliable and Advanced membrane technology and automated fabrication allow these elements to deliver consistent performance that equipment suppliers, water treatment dealers, and residential customers can rely on. FILMTEC elements are shipped dry for convenient handling and long shelf-life. These elements are NSF/ANSI Standard 58 listed. Equipment suppliers can take advantage of FilmTec's Standard 58 listing and participation in the NSF Data Transfer Protocol to reduce costs for reduction claims for their systems.
